| While this year's batch of local music was mainly defined by either angst-filled teen punk bands or formulaic pop, one thing stood out amongst the rest: Cutup Mixdown. "Cut-up" by two digital DJs from the Digital Cutup Lounge, the double CD put together the live jazz of local pianist Allen Youngblood with a diverse assortment of MP3s creating an album that was just as praised for its dance sensibilities as it was for its virtuoso jazz. |
